The series is set in present time, but with ancient Greek gods still in control of human fate and existence. The focus is on Zeus, the king of the gods, who must deal with a prophecy which could end his reign. So, if I understand correctly, we get a modern take on the final chapter of Prometheus trilogy from 5th century BCE by Greek tragedian Aeschylus who allegedly wrote Prometheia, a trilogy of plays about the Titan Prometheus. The only play from this trilogy that survived to modern day is Prometheus Bound. The two other supposed works from the trilogy, Prometheus Unbound, and Prometheus the Fire-Bringer, were reduced to twelve quotes by later authors.
